Edward Snijders, duiker sinds de vroege tachtiger jaren, leerde onderwater fotograferen met de Nikonos III en 36-opnamen-diafilm, voordat hij 20 jaar geleden naar digitale video overstapte. Hij filmde toen met hele grote camera’s slechter beeld dan de huidige smartphones…
Hij is erg gelukkig dat de techniek nu zo is geëvolueerd is dat zijn opname materiaal klein genoeg is om in zijn handbagage te passen om toch 4K festival-, tv- en bioscoopproducties te draaien.
Edward filmde veel in en rond de Oosterschelde – hij was een van de oprichters van ‘Stichting de Oosterschelde’ – en produceerde voor omroep Zeeland de 13-delige serie Zeeuws water, gevolgd door ‘de Bijbel van Baster’. Een van zijn Oosterschelde producties werd aangekocht – en draait nog steeds – door Neeltje Jans en voorziet de vele buitenlandse toeristen van de eerste informatie. Cor & Henk, weervissers van de Oosterschelde, een documentaire die de ansjovis-visserij in beeld bracht, trok volle zalen en werd in Brabant en Limburg uitgezonden.
Hij filmde de afgelopen jaren ere- en eerste plaatsen bij elkaar op meerdere festivals waaronder Paf Tachov, Belgrado, Kemer en Vaasa.
Bonaire Bonanza werd de Gouden Palm in Marseille toegekend, een Zeeland clip bracht hem in Newark de Stan Waterman Award voor Excellence in UW video. Zijn laatste korte film hielp Manta Point Addu op de Malediven tot Marine Protected Area uit te roepen.
Edward is nog steeds een actieve filmer, heeft 2 projecten in de montage staan en een derde in de planning.
Na 5 mooie jaren nam hij met een uiterst succesvolle editie afscheid van het North Sea Film Festival in Rotterdam.
Jureren is hem niet onbekend; in het verleden jureerde hij in Kemer, Turkije en voor de Unterwasser video competitie in Duitsland. Nu is hij nog actief jurylid bij de World Shoot Out in Eilat en het Open Nederlands Kampioenschap Onderwatervideografie.

Edward Snijders, diver since the early 1980s, learned underwater shooting with the Nikonos III and 36 shots-slide film, before he switched to digital video 20 years ago. Then he filmed with very large cameras worse images than with current smartphones … He is very happy that the technique has evolved so that recording equipment is small enough to fit in his hand luggage bu still can shoot 4 k festival-, tv-and cinema productions. Edward filmed in and around the Easterscheldt – he was one of the founders of ‘ Stichting de Oosterschelde ‘- and produced the 13-part series for “Omroep Zeeland, followed by ‘ the Bible of Baster ‘. One of his EasterScheldt productions was purchased and is still running-by Neeltje Jans and provides for many foreign tourists the first information. COR & Henk, weather fishermen of the Easterscheldt, is a documentary that puts the anchovy-fishing in image, drew full houses and was broadcasted in Brabant and Limburg. He won in the last few years honorary and first places on several festivals including Paf Tachov, Belgrade, Kemer and Vaasa. Bonaire Bonanza was awarded the Golden Palm in Marseille, a Zeeland clip brought himwas awarded in Newark the Stan Waterman Award for Excellence in video. His latest short film helped to make “Manta Point Addu” in the Maldives a Marine Protected Area.
Edward is still an active filmmaker, has 2 projects in the Assembly and a third in the pipeline.
After 5 wonderful years, with a hugely successful Edition, he said farewell to the North Sea Film Festival in Rotterdam of which he was the organizer.
Judging is not unknown to him; in the past he was a judge in Kemer, Turkey and for the Unterwasser video competition in Germany.
Now he’s still active jury member at the World Shoot Out in Eilat and the Open Dutch Championships.

Edward Snijders, plongeur depuis le début des années 1980, a appris la photographie sous-marine avec le Nikonos III et 36 photos-diapositives, avant qu’il est passé à la vidéo numérique il y a 20 ans. Puis il a filmé avec des très grandes caméras des images beaucoup pire que possible aujourd’hui avec les smartphones … Il est très heureux que la technique a évolué est que son appareil et assez petit pour le mettre dans son bagage et il peut quand même filmé tout en 4 k festival-, télé- et productions de cinéma. Edward a filmé beaucoup dans et autour de l’Oosterschelde et il a été un des fondateurs de “Stichting de Oosterschelde ‘. Il a produit une série de 13 épisodes pour ‘Omroep Zeeland’, suivie de « la Bible de Baster ». Une de ses productions de l’Escaut oriental a été achetée par Neeltje Jans et fournit pour les nombreux touristes étrangers les premières informations. COR & Henk, pêcheurs de météo de l’Escaut oriental, un documentaire qui attire l’attention à la pêche d’anchois.
Ce film a été diffusé en Brabant et au Limbourg. Il a gagné les dernières années des places d’honneur et premiers place sur plusieurs festivals dont Paf Tachov, Belgrade, Kemer et Vaasa.
Bonaire Bonanza a reçu la palme d’or à Marseille, un clip de Zeeland lui apporta à Newark le Stan Waterman Award Excellence en vidéo.
Son dernier court-métrage a aidé pour que la site “Manta Point Addu” aux Maldives est maintenant un aire Marine protégée.
Edward est toujours un cinéaste actif, a 2 projets à l’Assemblée et un troisième dans la planification.
Après 5 belles années, il a dit au revoir au “Nordzee Festival” à Rotterdam. Juger n’est pas inconnu pour lui ; dans le passé, il était un juge à Kemer, Turquie et pour le concours vidéo Unterwasser en Allemagne. Maintenant, il est membre du jury au Championnat Shoot Out à Eilat et les Championats de Pays-Bas de vidéo sous-marin.
