ENG - Info on flights
The Maluku Divers Resort experience offers the rare chance to explore a remote dive destination with convenient logistical arrangements and good flight connections. Four different airlines operate daily flights to Ambon, with regular schedules through Makassar from Bali, Jakarta, Sorong and Manado.
Domestic Flight Reservations
In addition to international flight arrivals through Bali, there are also possibilities for divers to transit through Jakarta or Manado on the way to Ambon. With four airlines offering flights from Jakarta to Ambon each day, it is usually more time and cost effective to travel through Jakarta. Time constrained divers can make use of the overnight flight with Lion Air or Batavia to miss the minimum dive opportunities at the resort, or for those with a more relaxed schedule, there is the opportunity to rest at one of a choice of convenient airport hotels before an early start to Ambon. Schedules through Bali require a brief transit in Makassar or Surabaya.
At time of writing, the luggage allowance is 20kg per diver for Lion Air flights and 20kg for Garuda, Batavia and Sriwijaya. Excess baggage charges vary with each airline, but are generally between Rp20,000 and Rp30,000 per kilo. Divers will be responsible for their own excess luggage payments.
Domestic Hotel Reservations
Generally it is advised that divers arrive in Indonesia at least one day in advance of the arrival date in Ambon, spending one night in a comfortable hotel, recovering from international travel. The Maluku Divers Resort team will be present upon arrival in Ambon and will assist with collecting luggage and providing transfers to the resort.
